First published in 1961, The Highest Treason was highly appreciated by the public and it has been considered to be one of the author’s best stories ever since. Garrett is known as a master of alternate realities and this story shows his talent at its very best – the alternative world is described in a detailed way, the alternative social architecture is very credible and the readers can easily identify with the motivations of the protagonist.
