A classic novel written by Anthony Trollope, a highly remarkable author which novel took place in France. The story is set in a town in the Vodges mountains in the northeast of France telling the events and affairs in the lives of a caretaker’s family. Particularly the romantic relationship between George Voss, the son of the landowner and his cherished Marie, the jealousy between Voss and the other suitor for the love of Marie to propose marriage, and the incidents of an espousal resulting to some arguments. This short and fantabulous story gained success from all over the world.

Anthony Trollope was a British author during the Victorian period. One of his famous works is a collection of books known as the Chronicles of Barsetshire, which is set around the fictional county of Barsetshire. Trollope also wrote books on the basis of political, social, and gender issues, and other topical matters.

The father of Anthony, Thomas Anthony Trollope, was a barrister. He was a brilliant and highly educated man and a Fellow of New College, Oxford, but sadly, he did not pass the bar examinations because of his bad attitude. He was the son of landed gentry and he wanted his sons to be gentlemen and to go to Oxford or Cambridge.

Anthony Trollope was born in London and attended Harrow School as a free day pupil at the age of seven for three years. His childhood was a frustration because of the prestigious background of his parents but were extremely impoverished.

When he decided to be a novelist, he was disappointed when he wrote only a few novels. He wrote at least four novels about Ireland when he emigrated there such as, The Macdermots of Ballycloran, The Landleaguers, Castle Richmond, and his fourth novel, The Kellys and the O’Kellys. Some of his stories are themed with humor, love and rivalry.
