The God of All Comfort

$19.00

Description

Dedicated to Christians who admit deeming the Bible as God’s disclosure, but whose “lives are filled with discomfort and unrest.” Hannah purports to indicate that the Bible’s contention that God is the “the God of all comfort” is not an excess notice or false impression, but that it is probable to benefit ourselves of the uncertainties and strong uneasiness that afflict numerous Christians.

By discussing God’s role and man’s role, Hannah intends to express her fellowmen that it is probable to surmount failure and dejection and search for serenity in God. Plentiful life and true lasting happiness are obtainable to all devotees.

Hannah Tatum Whitall Smith was a lay speaker and writer in the Holiness movement in America and the Higher Life movement in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. She was also an active member in the Women’s suffrage movement and the Temperance movement.

She was from Philadelphia, Hannah was from an immeasurable descent of famous and important Quakers in New Jersey. Her parents were John Mickle Whitall and Mary Tatum Whitall. Her most popular predecessor was Ann Cooper Whitall.

Hannah tied the knot with Robert Pearsall Smith, a man who was also from an immeasurable descent of famous Quakers in the area. The Smiths resided in Germantown, Pennsylvania. They distanced themselves slightly from the Quakers after a changeover incident, but Mrs. Smith remained to presume a huge deal of Quaker doctrine and praised in her Quaker upbringing and observances. The Smiths were greatly swayed primarily by the Plymouth Brethren, and by the Methodist revivalists. Out of power from the Wesleyan doctrine of sanctification, and according to Quaker beliefs and principles from spiritualism, Mrs. Smith and her husband formed and proclaimed the Keswick theology. They were also impelled by William E. Boardman, who authored The Higher Christian Life.
