Peggy Raymond and her friends, Amy, Priscilla and Ruth, meet a new friend, Elaine, and her family. While Peggy, in her typical jolly and sensible way, greets them into the Friendly Terrace, where many enigmas quietly uncover about them and why they finally settled there. Harriet Lummis Smith then went on to create four series to Eleanor H. Porter’s Pollyanna novels.

The labeling of the Terrace was a jaunty incident. It must have been an incident, for Jenkins Avenue traversed it at right directions, and just to the north dashed Sixtieth Street. No one must have speculated when the Terrace was described that the label would show so suitable, and that the cozy huts would have such an affable, friendly sight, as if concurring compliments to each one in their tidy pieces of lawn. When the tag Friendly Terrace was seen on the street lamps at the surround there were no happy smiles noticeable at the anterior windows of the cottages.

Harriet Lummis Smith is also known for these stories such as Pollyana of the Orange Blossoms; Pollyana’s Jewels; Pollyana’s Debt of Honor; The Uncertain Glory; Pat and Pal; The Peggy Raymond Series: Peggy Raymond’s Success or The Girls of Friendly Terrace; Peggy Raymond’s Vacation or Friendly Terrace Transplanted; Peggy Raymond’s School Days or Old Girls and New; Peggy Raymond’s Way or Blossom Time at Friendly Terrace; and some other stories.
