The Full Blessing of Pentecost is described by the author, Andrew Murray, as simple yet divine. The message that one should have with whole heartedness and be filled with the Spirit of God. Pentecost is a Christian holiday celebrated 50 days from Easter Sunday, inclusive of Easter Sunday, 49 days or 7 weeks after Easter Sunday. It is always celebrated on a Sunday. Pentecost is also the tenth day after Ascension Thursday, which is 40 days from Easter.

Pentecost in the New Testament of the Christian Bible is defined as the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and all devotees of Jesus Christ. The descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles happened during the celebration of the Jewish day of Shavuot or the Feast of Weeks, an important celebration in the calendar of historical Israel in consonance to the giving of the Law to Moses at Mount Sinai. It is also referred to as the Birthday of the Church.

Andrew Murray was a South African author, educator, and a Christian clergy. He regarded religious responsibilities as “the chief end of the church”.

Murray was born in Graaf Reinet, South Africa to parents Andrew Murray Sr., a Dutch Converted Church missionary from Scotland to South Africa, his mother, Maria Susanna Stegmann, of French Huguenot and German Lutheran lineage.

He went to school at Aberdeen in Scotland for his primary education, along with his older brother, John. They both graduated and got their master’s degrees there. Murray and his brother continued their studies at the University of Utrecht where they took up theology. Both brothers were affiliated with Het Réveil, a religious renewal group in contrast to the judicious which was popular in the Netherlands during those days. The two brothers were ordained by The Hague Committee of the Dutch Reformed Church and afterwards came back to the Cape.
