The Coming People

Description

The history of existence of people is shown in an illustrative way, that life is indefinite and how people survive in their daily lives. The narrative is presented in an argumentative form, a puzzling yet believable story of the coming of people.

Charles F. Dole discusses that in our progressive state, we need to understand that the theory of evolution or the survival of the fittest (by Charles Darwin) must be modernized. A few would think that his work on The Coming of People (written before the two Great World Wars) was noticeably wrong. Nevertheless, his concept is considered compelling in accordance with the modern scientific studies given in some of the texts, such as the “Evolution and Empathy”, and “The Age of Empathy”, and it is notable that he added a new text after the First Great War, “A Religion for the New Day”, where he discusses that while the world is still experiencing hostility, he is certain that it “is improving and improvable”.

Charles also expresses his ideas on the shortcomings of his time and the future, and accentuates that time should be resolved in a passive and rational way. The Coming People is worldwide and crucial and remains to be significant to all people who have different beliefs.

It includes chapters such as :The Prophecy; Certain Clear Facts; Heroism, or the Iron in the Blood; The Divine Universe; The Point of View; Shortcuts to Success; The Law of Cost; The Problem of the Prosperous; The Ideal Democracy; Possible Revolution; The Motto of Victory; and The Happy Life.

Charles Fletcher Dole was a powerful Unitarian minister, speaker, and writer in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston, Massachusetts, and Chairman of the Association to Abolish War. He wrote several important books on politics, history and theology.
