The Atrocities of the Pirates

Description

This is a true story of Aaron Smith, a young British seafarer who was captured and detained by the pirates of the Cuba when his ship was aboard the route from Jamaica to England in the year 1822. How unlucky he was with these personal experiences of his life. He was forced to work as a navigator and as a member of the pirate boarding parties, he experienced hardships and torturous acts while being the captive of the Cuban pirates. He had seen his fellow captives being killed and was incarcerated to death.

As the old saying goes, that in every dark cloud there is a silver lining, meaning there is still hope that glimmers in every unlikely situation. He was befriended by a young Cuban lass and she helped him escape before something lethal might happen with his very life. However, he was arrested in Havana because the legal authorities thought that he was one of the pirates and he was sent back to England and was detained in jail.

He was scheduled for trial at the Old Bailey courthouse in defense of himself. An attorney general led the prosecution. The life he endured during his captivity with the pirates was a gruesome experience. Until today, pirates are everywhere, in any form, such as buccaneers, or the pirates of the Caribbean Sea; corsairs or privateers, private persons or ships that are engaged in maritime warfare in times of war. The commission of war is also known as a letter of marque which gives power to persons to carry all forms of hostility; river pirates or maritime piracy, an act of stealing or criminal violence through ship of boat attackers to another ship or a coastal area with the aim of robbing cargo and other properties of value; and other people who are involved in piracy and other criminal or unauthorized acts of piracy.
