Crime: Its Cause and Treatment

Description

Clarence Darrow ultimately asserts that the mental, corporeal, and ecological features, leave a huge impact on the behavior of man, that it is not a cognizant preference of what is good and evil. Clarence points out that crime is caused by the actions and deeds of a man and he details the treatment of the felons.

In his preface, he narrates that this text book emanated from the contemplations and deliberations of his over 40 years of service as a lawyer. Alongside with his profession, the matters of crime that he has taken into consideration, made him pay attention to study closer and state about the human traits and the grounds for its diverse behavior. He yearned to depict the modern scientific idea and analysis in relation to the demeanor of man. He clarifies that he does not profess to be an exceptional investigator, nor a biologist, psychologist nor even a philosopher. He affirms that he is only a student studying about the prevention of such criminal offenses and its subcategories. It is probable that a few of his scientific research are still disputable and might even be disallowed. The logical thought is constantly willing to research, adapt changes or dispense with as new investigation and evidence comes into plain view.

Clarence Seward Darrow was an American legal practitioner, a prominent member of the American Civil Liberties Union, and a primary advocate for Georgist economic reform. He represented the teenage thrill murderers Leopold and Loeb in their trial for killing Robert “Bobby” Franks who was then 14 years old. Most of his other cases was representing Ossian Sweet, and John T. Scopes in the Scopes “Monkey” Trial, in which he compete against William Jennings Bryan, a statesman, orator, and three-time presidential candidate. He was often referred to as a sophisticated country lawyer and he was one of the well known American lawyers and civil libertarians.
