Stevenson’s “original” title is inspired from One Thousand and One Nights, a collection of Arabian and South Asian stories that the author was extremely fond of. The stories, however, have very little connection with Stevenson’s works, their nested structure and the fact that the late 1800s were the center stage for two major translations of the aforementioned stories, being basically the only connection between Stevenson and the acclaimed Arabian tales.
