G.L. Vandenburg created eccentric and humorous Science Fiction stories for Amazing Science Fiction Stories, and alike magazines in the 1950’s. These four stories are an assortment that offer a flair of his unusual style, bizarre, hysterical and stress-free narrative form that caused happiness and enjoyment to those of us who had these magazines and found his name on the cover. The first is Martian V.F.W., wherein several odd people grouped themselves in a parade; the second is Jubilation, U.S.A, our first people from the outer world meet a bandit with only one arm and does not accurately strike the top prize; the third is Moon Glow, the first Americans on the Moon get an unwanted revelation; and the final story in two parts, The Observers, a menacing plan encompassing bald-headed men is saddened by a dull secretary.

G. L. Vandenburg said in his introductory part “There’s nothing like a parade, I always say. Of course, I’m a Martian.”

Mr. Cruthers is a man who is always busy at work. He organizes the greatest parade in New York’s timeline which is not that simple. He was playing with his two hundred pounds near Washington Square with the energy of a sportsman. He had himself filled with marchers, finding floats, arranging some brass bands in their correct order and shouting orders to assistants. But Mr. Cruthers handled his career with all the ardor of a preacher at a resumption gathering.

As he goes into the southwest part he found something that shook his now threadbare nerves. He stood still. He saw a hundred and fifty ants, every one of them at least six feet tall. He wants to go to the doctor. But the ants seemed nice as if not wanting to attack him.
