The National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling is a dual-party political committee, implemented by Executive Order 13543 ratified by Barack Obama that is “tasked with providing recommendations on how the United States can prevent and mitigate the impact of any future spills that resulted from offshore drilling.” It became a consequence of the April 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The first public hearings in New Orleans, contained within enforced declaration from Federal administrative officials and delegates of BP on the circumstance of the spill and clearing strategies, besides district officials, civic leaders and scientists on the fiscal, national and biological aftermath of the oil spill on Gulf Coast societies and ecologies. The committee publicized initial statements disparaging the presidency of Obama for mishandling of its rejoinder to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Amid other matters stated were, not being completely forthright with the US populace and having the influence of not being entirely knowledgeable. The committee promulgated its final report with references to Congress for new disbursements and bylaws. Reilly, former Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (co-chair); Frances G. Beinecke, President of Natural Resources Defense Council; Donald Boesch, President of University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science; Terry D. Garcia, Executive Vice President for Mission Programs for the National Geographic Society; Cherry A. Murray, Dean of the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and John A. and Elizabeth S. Armstrong Professor of Engineering and Applied Sciences; and many others.
