Sir Henry Rider Haggard, KBE, also referred to as H. Henry Rider Haggard, mostly called as H. Rider Haggard or Rider Haggard, was born at Bradenham, Norfolk, the eighth of his ten siblings. His parents were Sir William Meybohm Rider Haggard, a lawyer, and Ella Doveton, a writer and poet. His father was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, to English parents.
