Lilian C. McNamara, better known as Lilian C. Garis was a United States writer who scribbled innumerable works of children’s stories. Before becoming a writer, she was a broadcaster for the Newark Evening News in New Jersey.

For the Stratemeyer Syndicate she composed using the pen name Margaret Penrose and Laura Lee Hope, with her books containing many of the first stories in the series of Bobbsey Twins along with the series of Dorothy Dale. But Mrs. Garis also composed a few pieces using her real name. Her husband, Howard Roger Garis was also a Syndicate scriber and DJ on WNJR. Her kids Roger and Cleo also authored children’s stories.
