Richard Doddridge Blackmore, better known as R. D. Blackmore, was among the most popular English writers of the 2nd part of the 19th century. He was attributed for vibrant exemplifications and characterization of the scenery, keeping with Thomas Hardy a Western England setting and a strong perception of regional background in his writings.

R. D. Blackmore, oftentimes known as the “Last Victorian”, was a forerunner of the movement in literature that pursued with Robert Louis Stevenson and others.
