Augusta Stevenson was an American author of children’s books and an educator. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. She had written more than 400 children’s literature, her best known books are Childhood of Famous Americans and Children’s Classics in Dramatic Form. She was a teacher in Indianapolis Public Schools while taking an active part in her literary career.

The first collection of Children’s Classics in Dramatic Form was designed as a textbook for children at school, and was later reprinted as Plays for the Home. It covers tales from Aesop such as Aesop and the Ferryman, The Ant and the Grasshopper, The Ape and the Fox, The Astrologer who Fell into a Well, The Bird-catcher and the Blackbird, The Bear and the Travelers, The Beaver, The Belly and the Other Members, The Bird in Borrowed Feathers, The Boy Who Cried Wolf, The Cat and the Mice, The Cock and the Jewel, The Cock, the Dog and the Fox, The Crow and the Pitcher, The Crow and the Sheep, The Crow and the Snake, The Deer without a Heart, The Dog and its Reflection, The Dog and the Sheep, The Shipwrecked Man and the Sea, The Sick Kite, The Snake and the Crab, The Snake and the Farmer among others.

Hans Christian Andersen tales such as The Emperor’s New Clothes, The Little Mermaid, The Nightingale, The Snow Queen, The Ugly Duckling, Thumbelina, and so much more.

The Brothers Grimm fairy stories such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, The Frog Prince, The Goose-Girl, Hansel and Gretel, Rapunzel, Rumpelstiltskin, Sleeping Beauty, and many more.

Finally, the 1001 Arabian Nights tales such as Story of King Shahryar and His Brother, The Fisherman and the Jinni, The Porter and the Three Ladies of Baghdad, The Tale of the Three Apples, The Hunchback’s Tale, and all others.
