Description

The Brood of the Dark Moon is a sequel to the Dark Moon. As Chet, Walt and Diane decided for the second time to fly into this crazy adventure into the Dark Moon, they once again greet their mortal enemy Schwartzmann and harshly takes them as captives.

Charles Willard Diffin was a US engineer, airplane salesman and writer who finished a degree in analytical chemistry from the University of Buffalo, New York. He was particularly keen with working in the magazines issued by William Clayton and Street & Smith. He was among the worthy writers whom Harry Bates urged to write for the new Astounding Stories, although he quickly pervaded into stereotypical literature.

Spawn of the Stars, his first fiction, tells the story of the Earth being attacked by amoeba-like creatures from outer space and was adequately adept for Groff Conklin to republish it in The Best of Science Fiction but was the first of the many repetitive world-saving exploits in Edmond Hamilton’s manner of writing, such as The Pirate Planet, The Eye of Allah, under the pen name, C D Willard, Brood of the Dark, The Hammer of Thor and The Finding of Haldgren and Two Thousand Miles Below.

Charles Willard’s ultimately appealing and deeply subtle story is the deterrent, The Power and the Glory, which asks whether Nuclear Energy will be casted off in the right or wrong way. His best known fictions were the Harkness-Bullard sequence, Dark Moon, Brood of the Dark Moon and The Finding of Haldgren, having to do with the ventures in a rowdy new sphere filled with monsters which has been taken as a new moon orbiting Earth. Charles Willard’s last fiction for Astounding was Blue Magic, which is situated in Jupiter and a heretofore strange Jovian moon but is somewhat like a fairy tale than a science fiction.
