Description

When the pious Herzog of Thuringia perishes, the Irish missionary communities face the indignation of his angrily agnostic wife, Geila, and her son, now Herzog Hedan. However, when Hedan falls head over heels with Bilihild, a juvenile Christian girl, he proposes peace to his Christian lieges if Bilihild will become his wife. As Bilihild aims to learn to love her new husband and saves her people, she meets rising predicament and peril, especially from her envious mother-in-law. As the clouds curdle surrounding her, Bilihild should place her entire faith on the God whom she respects and adores.

The Religious Tract Society, founded in 1799, 56 Paternoster Rowand 65 St. Paul’s Chuchyard and 164 Piccadilly, was the first name of an outstanding British publisher of Christian literature aimed primarily for evangelism, and containing literature purposed at young people, women, and the underprivileged.

The RTS is also noteworthy for being the issuer of the Boy’s Own Paper, Girl’s Own Paper and The Leisure Hour.

When the Religious Tract Society was founded, there was support coming from bishops, such as Shute Barrington (Durham) and Beilby Porteus (London). The founding team involved: David Bogue, Independent; Robert Hawker, Anglican; Joseph Hughes, Baptist; and Joseph Reyner as treasurer, business partner of Joseph Hardcastle, Independent.

These founders were gotten from the same assemblies of evangelicals who formed the London Missionary Society in 1795, and the British and Foreign Bible Society in 1804.

The community begun by issuing tracts, although quickly lengthened their work into the composition of books and newspapers. Their work was mainly a few though did comprise bigger writings including the multi-volume Devotional Commentary and the immense Analytical Concordance to the Bible of Robert Young.
