Description

Joel was one of the Twelve Minor Prophets of the Hebrew Bible. After being proclaimed as among the prophets, he wrote a narrative of the abhorrent plague of a great locust and severe drought. There was even a scarcity of agricultural offerings for the Temple of Jerusalem. A prophetic message was declared comparing the locusts as God’s warning to people for national repentance for God’s final judgment. There was an indication of a promise of future blessings and there will be no more plagues nor scarcity of food and water. People will be blessed and be saved from cataclysms if they seek repentance from God.

The Revised Version, Standard American Edition of the Bible, simply known as the American Standard Version (ASV), is a Bible translation into English language that was finished in 1901, with the production of the revision of the Old Testament; the revised New Testament had been published in 1900. It was originally noted by its complete title, but have other names, as the American Revised Version, the American Standard Revision, the American Standard Revised Bible, and the American Standard Edition. When its copyright was extended in 1929, it had come to be known as, the American Standard Version. Because of its distinction in seminaries, it was in the United States to sometimes call as the “Standard Bible”.

The American Standard Version, also known as The American Revision of 1901, started in 1870 to revise the Authorized Version or King James Bible of 1611. This work of revision gradually drafted the Revised Version (RV). American religious leaders for scholars were sent requests to lend a hand on the RV assignment. In 1871, thirty scholars were selected by Philip Schaff. The religious creed designated on the American committee were the Baptist, Congregationalist, Dutch Reformed, Friends, Methodist, Episcopal, Presbyterian, Protestant Episcopal, and Unitarian. These scholars started their project in 1872.
