Description

The Book of Samuel is composed of two books and is included in the Deuteronomistic history or text volumes, namely Joshua, Judges, Samuel and Kings in the Old Testament of the Hebrew Bible which is a narrative of how the people of Israel are guided by the prophets under God’s law. The Book of Samuel was written by Samuel himself and by the prophets Gad and Nathan, in accordance with the Jewish customs. The story begins with the birth of Samuel and as a young boy, was called to be one of the messengers of God. Followed by the Ark of the Covenant, King David’s conquest, Republican reign where Saul was appointed as king by God, and Monarchial reign where Saul leads a war against the Ammonites.

The Revised Version, Standard American Edition of the Bible, simply known as the American Standard Version (ASV), is a Bible translation into English language that was finished in 1901, with the production of the revision of the Old Testament; the revised New Testament had been published in 1900. It was originally noted by its complete title, but have other names, as the American Revised Version, the American Standard Revision, the American Standard Revised Bible, and the American Standard Edition. When its copyright was extended in 1929, it had come to be known as, the American Standard Version. Because of its distinction in seminaries, it was in the United States to sometimes call as the “Standard Bible”.

The American Standard Version, also known as The American Revision of 1901, started in 1870 to revise the Authorized Version or King James Bible of 1611. This work of revision gradually drafted the Revised Version (RV). American religious leaders for scholars were sent requests to lend a hand on the RV assignment. In 1871, thirty scholars were selected by Philip Schaff.
