Bible (ASV) 02: Exodus

Description

The Book of Exodus or commonly called as Exodus, an Ancient Greek term, which means going out. It is the second book of the Torah and the Hebrew Bible or the Old Testament. The book is a narrative of the Israelites leaving Egypt because of slavery through God’s power and they are led by Moses, their prophet and they walk through the barrens of Mount Sinai, where Yahweh or God promises them the land of Canaan or called as the Promised Land if they continue to be faithful. The Book of Exodus is a short read and is composed mainly about God, Moses, and the people of Israel.

The Revised Version, Standard American Edition of the Bible, simply known as the American Standard Version (ASV), is a Bible translation into English language that was finished in 1901, with the production of the revision of the Old Testament; the revised New Testament had been published in 1900. It was originally noted by its complete title, but have other names, as the American Revised Version, the American Standard Revision, the American Standard Revised Bible, and the American Standard Edition. When its copyright was extended in 1929, it had come to be known as, the American Standard Version. Because of its distinction in seminaries, it was in the United States to sometimes call as the “Standard Bible”.

The American Standard Version, also known as The American Revision of 1901, started in 1870 to revise the Authorized Version or King James Bible of 1611. This work of revision gradually drafted the Revised Version (RV). American religious leaders for scholars were sent requests to lend a hand on the RV assignment. In 1871, thirty scholars were selected by Philip Schaff. The religious creed designated on the American committee were the Baptist, Congregationalist, Dutch Reformed, Friends, Methodist, Episcopal, Presbyterian, Protestant Episcopal, and Unitarian. These scholars started their project in 1872.
