Description

A Fish Answers is a response to the previous poem To a Fish wherein the fish is being ridiculed by man because of its state in the waters. In this poem, the fish retorted that a man has an odd and gruesome life. The fish further states that he lives a blessed life in the ocean. If you could choose your own way of life, will it be in the land or in the waters?

James Henry Leigh Hunt most famous as Leigh Hunt, was a British critic, essayist, poet, and author. James Henry Leigh Hunt was born in Southgate, London, where his parents had resided after departing the United States. His father Isaac, an attorney from Philadelphia, and his mother, Mary Shewell, a daughter of a tradesman and a devoted Quaker, had been obligated to go to Britain because of their partisan commiserations though the American War of Independence. James’ father had holy orders and turned to be a well known minister, although he was ineffective in acquiring a stable livelihood. His father was thereafter hired by James Brydges, 3rd Duke of Chandos, as an instructor to his nephew, James Henry Leigh, the father of Chandos Leigh, whom the child was named after.

Leigh Hunt was taught at Christ’s Hospital in accordance to his autobiography. He studied at the school right after Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Charles Lamb had both went, Thomas Barnes, on the other hand, was his school comrade. Among the new boarding homes at Christ’s Hospital is designated after him. As a child, he was a committed enthusiast of Thomas Gray and William Collins, composing several poems in replication of them. His stuttering, afterwards treated, became an obstacle in his studies. “For some time after I left school,” he admits, “I did nothing but visit my school-fellows, haunt the book-stalls and write verses.” His poetry was issued in 1801 entitled Juvenilia, and presented him into the society of literary arts and dramaturgy.
