Description

Meet the Golovliovs, the supreme socially impaired family. In the tough upheaval times in the past and later the freedom of Russia’s bondservants, the Golovliovs are a nobility family unlikely to confront the variation needed in the modern society. Frivolous, backstabbing, selfish, adamant, illiterate, and harsh, their traits are captivated in the list of epithets they themselves call one another: The Hag, Little Judas, Simple Simon, Pavel the Sneak, the Orphans, the Blood-Sucker. They dislike one another viciously and altogether disdain the hayseeds they see, who are slowly arising to the makings of their new liberation. In this very popular of Saltykov-Shchedrin’s fiction, there is a deeper empathy into the situation of females captured in the complications of civic transition: Anninka and Lubinka, the noble homeless who, searches for freedom, rashly oust themselves into the life of a free spirited; the matron Arina Petrovna, whose seriously powerful authority of the domain heads to an invigorating although only short-lived substantiality; the poor damsel Yevpraksia, who is easily brought by the deplorable Porfiry Vladimirych as his paramour.

Mikhail Yevgrafovich Saltykov-Shchedrin born as Saltykov, nom de plume Nikolai Shchedrin, was a most famous Russian humorist of the 19th century. He mostly worked as a public employee in different competencies. After he died, poet Nikolay Nekrasov executed as editor of the popular Russian publication, Otechestvenniye Zapiski varyingly conveyed as Annals of the Fatherland, Patriotic Notes, Notes of the Fatherland, and more, however, the administration outlawed it. His most famous novel The Golovlyov Family, was a huge success. Mikhail Saltykov was born in the town of Spas-Ugol, Tver Governorate. He was among the 8 kids – 5 brothers, 3 sisters – in the big family – with Tatar lineage of Yevgraf Vasilievich Saltykov, a member of the primordial Saltykov family, and Olga Mikhaylovna Zabelina, scion to a wealthy business
