Description

Alexander Fedoritch Adouev is the innocent, mollycoddled son of Anna Pavlovna, a local landlady. He chooses to travel to Saint Petersburg, not only to build his streak into the world but also to accomplish his two promising quixotic aspirations of becoming a famous author and looking for his sweet partner. He is brought under the loath annex of his uncle, Piotr Ivanitch Adouev, a sensible, shrewd merchant who derides all starry eyes and exasperates to treat Alexander Fedoritch of his mawkish, childish imaginations. Alexander Fedoritch defies the coaching of his uncle, drafting mundane essays of manure and crop rotation for an agricultural paper as a manner of providing for himself but creating romantic poetry and plays at night time. In search for real love, he chases one by one the pastoral Sophia, the disloyal Nadinka, the downhearted Julia, the athletic Liza, and even obliquely the astute and pretty Lizaveta, who was currently married with Alexander’s unemotional uncle. The big issue of the story is whether Alexander can create a life equalized between realism and fantasy, or be foregone to one or another. Not a gratuitous person in the alike manner such as Ivan’s far along popular hero Oblomov, Alexander Fedoritch Adouev is still a notable figure, a sensitive, believable fellow in the first years of Russian expediency.

Ivan Alexandrovich Goncharov was a Russian author most famous for his stories A Common Story, Oblomov, and The Precipice. He also worked in several official duties, such as becoming a censor.

Ivan was born in Simbirsk into the family of a rich tradespeople, as a remuneration for his grandfather’s soldierly service, they were furthered to elite status. He studied at a boarding school, later at the Moscow College of Commerce, and lastly at Moscow State University.
