Description

This is an odd tale of the English Civil War. There is a noble story of the Battle of Newbury, and several celebrated characters emerge: the most famous Cromwell, Ireton, Prince Rupert, Charles I, Fairfax, and Lambert. This story of men and weaponries is set from the magnificent times of the Bavaliers and the Roundheads, of Puritans and the purported evils but the tackles of war are somewhat in the mileu, while in the focus is an enchantress, a captor of hearts and a symbol of fortunes. The tale narrates of a woman’s dream that “urges valiant men to perilous deeds”. Henry Christopher Bailey was a British writer of crime novels. Henry authored mostly short fiction starring a somatically competent investigator named Reggie Fortune. Reggie’s stances and discourses placed him into the similar type such as Lord Peter Wimseybut the tales are much more intense, and frequently include fatal fixation, police exploitation, monetary shenanigans, child violence and blunders of justice. Though Mr. Fortune appeared at his finest in short tales, he was also seen in a number of books. A protagonist in the second series, Joshua Clunk, is a smug attorney who displays perversion and extortion in local political affairs, and who succeeds to gain from the misdeeds. He is seen in 11 books such as The Sullen Sky Mystery, largely considered as Henry’s masterpiece. Henry’s books appeared in countless magazines, such as Adventure and Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine. Some of his romantic and historic fiction include: My Lady of Orange; Karl of Erbach; The Master of Gray; Rimingtons; Beaujeu; Under Castle Walls, aka Springtime; Raoul, a Gentleman of Fortune, aka A Gentleman of Fortune; The God of Clay; Colonel Stow; Storm and Treasure; The Lonely Lady; The Suburban; The Sea Captain; The Gentleman Adventurer; The Highwayman; The Gamesters and many other stories.
