Description

Another romance and adventure filled novel by a talented and highly notable novelist, Gilbert Parker. During his time in the 18th century history, he made this one of the most successful and notable works. The Seats of the Mighty was published as a series in The Atlantic. The novel was a huge hit and gained third place in the highest best-selling books in the United States.

The novel is defined as historical, where it entails the English defeat of Quebec with the main roles of James Wolfe and the Marquis de Montcalm. In the second millennium, it was made into a play and into a film which stars Lionel Barrymore. There is a tint of romance between England and of the Atlantic. A beautiful and colorful description of England was narrated in the story and then goes to Canada to battle among the newly found prized possessions. This is a historical story of conquest with a little love story detailed.

One of the characters is General Braddock who was defeated in Virginia but still a hero, he was sent to prison in Quebec. General Braddock was intrigued by La Pompadour and becomes part of an unusual history. Will the hero make his way out of prison? Will the hero and his heroine end up happily ever after? The novel is full of action and adventure with a blend of risky schemes, which ended up only after Wolfe’s win over Montcalm. Ancient Quebec’s life and history has never been put into writing as partly fictional with the justification of intricate and appealing plot and occurrences, as embellished with an exquisite romantic story in between. Upon reading the narration, readers will envision in their mind, the illustrations of the renowned buildings, gates, fight scenes and battle grounds, at the time of the hero’s captive in Quebec.
