Description

The Angler is a poem written by an American poet and a painter of images. In the analysis of the poem it describes The Angler carefully fishing with precision., when suddenly, a dotted eagle shafts to the waters and snatches the hook. Until the freshwater fish jumps out of the brook then falls on the angler’s side. In this poem, the eagle probably caused the death of the trout. The angler was astonished by the darting of the bard and regretted he went fishing that day.

One may perceive the story as a story of life’s ups and downs and about saying or doing something which he might regret after.

Thomas Buchanan Read was born in Corner Ketch, a townlet near Downington, in Chester County, Pennsylvania. His hobbies include art painting, writing a prose romance, The Pilgrims of the Great St. Bernard, and numerous books of poetry, like the New Pastoral, The House by the Sea, Sylvia, A Summer Story, short poems include Sheridan’s Ride, Drifting, The Angler, The Oath, and The Closing Scene, having excellent worthiness.

Read was a member of Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. His artistic works are well-known at Florence, Italy. He painted such prominent authorities particularly Abraham Lincoln, the 16th American President and an attorney; Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, an American poet and professor; Alfred Tennyson, one of the most famous English poets; Elizabeth Barrett Browning, a well-known English poet of the Victorian era, most well-known in Great Britain and the United States at her time; Robert Browning, an English poet and playwright and one of the top Victorian poets; and William henry Harrison, who was the 9th American President and an American military officer.

The poet suffered from injuries he sustained from an accident through a carriage which led to a serious and fatal condition. He acquired pneumonia while traveling on a ship to America and thereafter, he died.
