Description

Using ESP to gather intelligence is not a new concept, and methods for seeing the next move of the enemy before it happens have long been a dream of military strategists. However, with the ruthless Dictator of Mekin having already subjugated more than twenty other planets, Captain Bors of the Kandarian Air Fleet needs some vitally important, verified insight as quickly as possible, if he is to avoid total annihilation. When he receives exactly what he needs from an unlikely source, a struggle ensues between his urge to act on his new information and the disbelief that the “experts” at Talents, Incorporated could have simply “outguessed” the plans of the powerful and feared Dictator.

Murray Leinster has gotten his fans used to a certain standard of quality when it comes to the skill and originality he invests into his science fiction novels. Talents, Incorporated is definitely no disappointment in this regard, taking sci-fi enthusiasts to a whole new level when the book first came out.

Leinster is usually able to create entire, complex universes with well-developed worlds and civilizations that have dazzled readers and inspired sci-fi movie directors for decades. When a bewildered and overwhelmed character like Captain Bors is forced to make one of the most drastic and important decisions for saving his planet from a harsh fate, you never really know what to believe or expect, and most readers can’t help but continue reading through the fast-paced adventure of Talents, Incorporated right to the end.

Although the book isn’t considered the very best story penned by Leinster, it’s definitely “right up there.” Blending action-packed air battles with politics, supernatural powers or perception and a healthy dose of suspense, Talents, Incorporated will delight and excite readers of all ages, while keep them at the edge of their seats in a manner that very few other sci-fi novels are capable of.
