Description

After receiving a troubling telegram from the woman he was about to wed, George Darrow, an American diplomat living in London, boards a steamer to visit her in Paris. On the way, he becomes enchanted by a beautiful young lady who goes by the name of Sophy Viner, and whom he barely recognizes.

A fiery love affair ensues, and George soon finds himself in a strange and ironic dilemma, when the widow he was going to spend the rest of his life with actually hires young Sophy as her governess.
