Description

The biography of George Washington designed for children takes them to the life of the former President of the United States, first as a military, serving as a colonel in the Virginia militia and serving as a member of General Braddock during the French and Indian revolt. Then he became the commander of the Virginia forces before he joined the First Continental Congress. Most of the biography includes his campaigns during the Revolution of the United States. He became an American President for two terms.

George Washington was a statesman and a soldier who became the first American President from 1789 to 1797. He was among the Founding Fathers of the United States. He was the Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the Revolution in the United States, and then he led the 1787 convention that drafted the Constitution of the United States. He is best known as the key figure behind the country’s stability as he is regarded as the father of the country even today.

He was very much appreciated for his excellent leadership characteristics and was elected president by the Electoral College in both national elections. He had managed the establishment of a defined and financially balanced national government that remained neutral in the French Revolutionary Wars, restrained the Whiskey Rebellion, and his constituents widely accepted him as their leader. The tenure of the former president instituted a number of paradigms which are still used in the modern times, for example, the cabinet system, the inaugural address and the title Mr. President. After serving as President for two terms, he inaugurated a tradition until 1940 when Franklin Delano Roosevelt won as the next President after Washington. The 22nd Amendment in 1951 limits the presidency to only two terms.
