Bible (KJV) NT 23-25: 1, 2, & 3 John

Description

First John was written to oppose docetism, which is the theorem that Jesus Christ did not return physically as a person but as a Holy Spirit. It also shows that Christians ascertain genuine leaders through their morals, their declaration of Christ as a person, and through their appreciation.

Second John speaks of “the elect lady and her children” or “elder lady and her children” in other translations, concluding with the phrase, “The children of thy elect sister greet thee.” The lady in the letter is remarked for her religiosity, many biblical scholars believe that the lady is referred to Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ and her children refer to Jesus and his brothers namely James, Joses, Simon and Jude, and the sisters of Mary.

Third John intends to motivate and urge Gaius, and to caution him from Diotephes, who does not concur with John, the Evangelist and the author of the epistle.

The King James Version (KJV), also referred as the King James Bible (KJB) or commonly the Authorized Version (AV), is an English conversion of the Christian Bible for the Church of England started in 1604 and accomplished in 1611. The texts of the King James Version contain the 39 texts of the Old Testament, an intertestamental chapter consisting of 14 texts of the Apocrypha – much of which are parallel to the texts in the Vulgate Deuterocanon observed to by Roman Catholics, and the 27 texts of the New Testament.

It was first published by the King’s Printer Robert Barker and was the third conversion into English granted by the English Church officials. The first had been the Great Bible, authorized in the ruling of King Henry VIII in 1535, and the second had been the Bishops’ Bible of 1568. In January 1604, James VI assembled the Hampton Court Conference, where a new English translation was considered in rejoinder to the issues of the first versions comprehended by the Puritans, a division of the Church of England.
