Wuthering Heights

Description

Wuthering Heights – Emily Bronte

Written in the late nineteenth century, Wuthering Heights has become one of the most important novels in Englishliterature.

Emily Bronte, who was the middle sister of the famous Bronte family, wrote this, her only novel, under the pseudonym Ellis Bell. Bronte was also a poet, but Wuthering Heights is the work that she is best known for today. She is regarded as one of the many literary geniuses that died before their time after producing a sublime work of art.

Wuthering Heights, a manor house, is the main setting of this novel. Ultimately, the story, like many classics, is centered around a doomed love affair and its disastrous results. The story centers around a man named Heathcliff, once an orphan boy who was adopted by the Earnshaw family. As a child, he becomes close friends with Catherine Earnshaw, the daughter of the family.

At the time of their writing, the story was considered, “a compound of vulgar depravity and unnatural horrors,” by critics, but it has since been realized for its powerful, well-written prose and its deep, dark storytelling.
