Description

The little rascal sleeps so peacefully every afternoon while he is being cradled by his father. And when he wakes up and finds out that there is no one in sight to comfort him, he suddenly cries. His father quickly shows his face to his small baby and happily says ‘Booh’. BOOH is a very adorable and charming poem of a father and his son who both enjoy playing this game.

Eugene Field, Sr. was an author, highly known for his children’s rhyme and entertaining essays. He was called as the poet of childhood.

Eugene was born in St. Louis, Missouri where at this instance his childhood residence welcomed the tourists as The Eugene Field House and St. Louis Toy Museum. When his mother died, he was cared for by his cousin, Mary Field French, in Amherst, Massachusetts.

His father, Roswell Martin Field, a lawyer, was known for defending Dred Scott, the servant who fought for his free will. Eugene filed the complaint in the Dred Scott vs. Sandford case at times regarded as “the lawsuit that started the Civil War” in favor of Scott in the federal court in St. Louis, Missouri, from where it advanced to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Thereafter, he became a journalist for the St. Joseph Gazette in Saint Joseph, Missouri. In the same year, he got married to Julia Comstock and they had eight children. For most of his life he prepared all the money he had to be sent to his family, stating that he had nothing for himself. Eugene then successfully became the city editor of the Gazette.

He was popular for his simple, amusing articles penned in a chatty sense, a few of which were republished by several newspapers in the country. It was at this moment that he created the popular poem entitled, Lovers Lane, of a street in St. Joseph, Missouri.
