Ray Cummings born as Raymond King Cummings, was an American writer of science fiction, ranked as among the “founding fathers of the science fiction pulp genre”.

Ray associated with Thomas Edison as a private assistant and technical author from 1914 to 1919. His most ultimately celebrated novel was The Girl in the Golden Atom issued in 1922, which was a combination of a short tale by the alike name issued in 1919 – where Ray merged the thought of Fitz James O’Brien’s The Diamond Lens with H. G. Wells’s The Time Machine – and a follow up, The People of the Golden Atom, issued in 1920. His profession developed into about 750 novels and short tales, under also the fictitious names Ray King, Gabrielle Cummings, and Gabriel Wilson.

Throughout the 1940s, with his prose career in overrun, Ray wrote unknowingly scripted comic book tales for Timely Comics, the forbearers to Marvel Comics. He reused the story line of The Girl in the Golden Atom, for a Captain America story in two parts, Princess of the Atom.
