Enjoy an Engaging and Mind-Twisting Detective Tale in The Crevice

The Crevice, written by Isabel Ostrander, is a detective story you will not easily be able to put down, even after just a few pages of reading. Depicting tales from an historic time in the suburbs of Brooklyn, the book captivates through its engaging action-oriented narration and expressive characters.

The story revolves around the unexpected death of one of the most brilliant financial geniuses of the day, whose daughter is surprised to discover that her father was all but broke. This surprising and suspicious turn of events prompts her to hire the Great Detective – an aggressive, bold and intelligent figure – to discover the truth behind the Evil Doers who are trying to manipulate events in their favor.

One of the most interesting and complex characters of the story is the Great Detective himself, and much of the book focuses around his accomplishments and challenges. He basically dominates the entire action, however, the story itself is far from being one-sided. Instead, it depicts intrigues from the political and business arena, where the forces of evil are constantly plotting and scheming to turn the tables to their advantage, as well as several sub-plots, one of which focuses on a romance story between one of the Great Detective’s agents and one of the Evil Doers’ agents.

Detective story enthusiasts will find plenty of reasons to enjoy this complex, but easy to read book. The Crevice seems to show how well it pays to always be vigilant and how women still have to be cared for and protected, despite the fact that they can be equally competent and insightful as their male counterparts, and are an indispensable part of an otherwise “masculine” society.
