Amendments to the United States Constitution

$19.00

Description

Those known as The Founding Fathers of the US are the ones who established the USA, opposing to the authority of the British Crown. A part of them signed the Declaration of Independence; others took part in drafting the Constitution or signed the Articles of Confederation. They represented the American leadership of their time; all of them were well-educated and leaders in their communities, revolutionaries, prominent in national affairs, some of them have served in the army and most of them were in different command positions, having extensive political experience.

The Constitution of the US is a living document because there is the possibility to be changed through amendments. Although the original document had no Bill of Rights, the framers of the Constitution were well aware that their creation is not perfect and that there will be more good ideas in the future, so they also thought about a procedure to make amendments.

Originally, the Bill of Rights included 17 sections, then the number was cut to 12 and only 10 amendments were agreed upon by the majority. The first ten amendments were proposed in September 1789 and adopted in December 1791. They are preceded by The Preamble; it has no force in law, but it explains why this document exists (the desire to improve the government, to protect the citizens not just from attacks from the outside but also from internal strife and to make responsible decision for the future generations).

The ten amendments to the United States Constitution refer to freedom of religion, freedom of the Press, freedom of Speech, freedom of assembly, freedom to petition, the right to bear arms, the right to life, liberty and property, State and people’s undelegated powers, rights in civil cases and more.

Reading the Founding Fathers’ Amendments to the US constitution can be an educative experience, but also a trip back in time.
