Matthew is the first of the compendious gospels in the New Testament of the Christian Bible that is composed of historical accounts, lineage of Jesus Christ, parables, sermons, and a few prophecies. Matthew or Levi was one of the Disciples of Christ. The main personages in the Gospel of Matthew are Messiah Jesus Christ, Jesus’ parents Mary and Joseph, the Twelve Disciples, John the Baptist, and some important religious figures. The Book of Matthew proclaims Jesus Christ as the Messiah and the King of the Jews, one of the descendants of David. Matthew was written to persuade the people of God that Jesus Christ was His Son and their Saviour. Revealing Jesus’ life story from His conception to His unrighteous death.

The Revised Version, Standard American Edition of the Bible, simply known as the American Standard Version (ASV), is a Bible translation into English language that was finished in 1901, with the production of the revision of the Old Testament; the revised New Testament had been published in 1900. It was originally noted by its complete title, but have other names, as the American Revised Version, the American Standard Revision, the American Standard Revised Bible, and the American Standard Edition. When its copyright was extended in 1929, it had come to be known as, the American Standard Version. Because of its distinction in seminaries, it was in the United States to sometimes call as the “Standard Bible”.

The American Standard Version, also known as The American Revision of 1901, started in 1870 to revise the Authorized Version or King James Bible of 1611. This work of revision gradually drafted the Revised Version (RV). American religious leaders for scholars were sent requests to lend a hand on the RV assignment. In 1871, thirty scholars were selected by Philip Schaff.
