Description

Thomas S. Jones, Jr. was on the dramatic staff of the New York Times for three years, from 1904 to 1907. His years of experience and his remarkable depth and talent have led him on the path to becoming a successful poet, however, his first volume, Path of Dreams, was published as soon as he graduated from Cornell University in 1904, and received an excellent critical appraisal.

Jones went on to publish several additional volumes, including From Quiet Valleys in 1907, Atque Vale” (In Memoriam Arthur Upson) in 1909 and The Voice of Silence in 1911.

Without a doubt, Jones’ career flourished not only because of his pleasant poems, many of which were crafted using neatly arranged rhymes and rhythm. The depth, simplicity and elegance of his words, however, far exceed that of most of his contemporaries, and his poetry is still seen as timeless art by readers today.

A Song in Spring is an exceptional example of Jones’ skill and inspiration. Through simple words and metaphors, the poet manages to create an atmosphere of calm and serenity, outlining the sheer beauty of nature’s rebirth during spring, and painting it with bright colors that will make you feel completely revitalized as you read through each verse.

The poem hides deeper meanings through the guise of blooming buds and breezes that Jones uses as artifices to draw upon his own feelings of inner reconnection and release from the “cold winter” of the soul.

If you enjoy poetry that uplifts and inspires you, then Thomas S. Jones’ A Song in Spring might be just what you need to help lift your spirits and remember that any setback or loss in life is accompanied by renewal. Jones’ masterful style and timeless, simple portrayals will almost make you feel the soft breezes of spring on your own skin as you read through this enchanting poem.
